SOLUTIONS

Protect in transit

Identify impact, vibration, stacking and abrasion hazards. Build protection around the product’s vulnerable surfaces and load paths.

A PRACTICAL STARTING POINT

Define what a better result means.

Start by documenting the existing design, the specific problem and how an improvement will be measured. Include operating conditions, assembly constraints and the intended service life.

Questions to bring to the conversation

  • What is the application, and which requirements are essential?
  • How will the finished component be manufactured and assembled?
  • Which conditions should be represented in testing?
  • What happens at the end of the useful service life?

Any performance, food-contact or environmental claim needs evidence for the specific grade and application. Agree the validation and documentation requirements before selecting a final design.

Identify the hazard

Describe impact, vibration, stacking and abrasion exposure across the handling route. Identify fragile surfaces and acceptable movement.

Shape the protective system

Locate load-bearing areas and distribute cushioning where it can work. Check the contact finish, packed space and operator access.

Test the complete pack

Use representative products and pack configurations under an agreed protocol. Separate repeated-use expectations from demonstrated operating results.
