SOLUTIONS

Preserve contents

Assess the product sensitivity, shipment duration and handling route. Packaging must be validated as part of the complete distribution system.

A PRACTICAL STARTING POINT

Define what a better result means.

Start by documenting the existing design, the specific problem and how an improvement will be measured. Include operating conditions, assembly constraints and the intended service life.

Questions to bring to the conversation

  • What is the application, and which requirements are essential?
  • How will the finished component be manufactured and assembled?
  • Which conditions should be represented in testing?
  • What happens at the end of the useful service life?

Any performance, food-contact or environmental claim needs evidence for the specific grade and application. Agree the validation and documentation requirements before selecting a final design.

Describe the product and route

Record temperature limits, duration, payload and transfer conditions. Include waiting periods and realistic seasonal exposure in the brief.

Define the packing system

Container, coolant, product placement and handling instructions must work together. The right packing method matters alongside the foam material and wall thickness.

Qualify the journey

Agree the test profile and acceptance criteria with the product owner. Record measurements and the exact configuration before the package is put into regular use.
