EXPERTISE

Cellular foam cutting

Create precisely fitted inserts and cushions around the product that needs protection.

A PRACTICAL STARTING POINT

Connect the process to the purpose.

The product dimensions, handling route and allowable movement guide the cavity layout. Evaluate compression and surface contact using representative samples.

Questions to bring to the conversation

  • What is the application, and which requirements are essential?
  • How will the finished component be manufactured and assembled?
  • Which conditions should be represented in testing?
  • What happens at the end of the useful service life?

Any performance, food-contact or environmental claim needs evidence for the specific grade and application. Agree the validation and documentation requirements before selecting a final design.

Capture the product geometry

Work from a drawing or representative product and identify bearing surfaces, fragile features and clearances. Include accessories and the way operators pack and unpack the assembly.

Choose the protection layout

Separate location features from cushioning zones. Sheet or block format, joining, contact finish and reusable assembly requirements determine how the insert is organised.

Check real handling

A fitted cavity alone does not prove protection. Evaluate representative loads, compression, vibration and drop conditions for the complete package and product.
